Preventive Services

Beginning with plan years starting on or after September 23, 2010, group health plans are 

required to cover certain preventive services delivered by in-network providers without cost-

sharing. Cost-sharing includes out-of-pocket costs such as deductibles, co-payments, and co-

insurance.

Note: The requirements to cover recommended preventive services without cost-sharing do not 

apply to grandfathered plans.
